oh golly, lots in that image is absurd to my eye — but explaining it is
much harder than seeing it; i could try to describe how i learned to
appreciate this kind of scene from my dad, but let's just say i found a
certain type of "ordinary magic" in that scene when i looked at all the
parts; "SNOWSALT" is an essential part of it, but just as it is, no
galoshes-in-the-desert needed
i don't think a photographer can see *all* of that at the moment of
taking — at least i never do
I sure don't- I can hardly see anything at all before I shoot. :-)
I guess I'm just so used to that store that it's like an old friend..
and gets taken for granted sometimes
