We have "the world's longest single span covered bridge in the US" in the foothills about 25 miles away. It's in a small state park named Bridgeport. A park ranger explained that the cover was to protect the wood from the elements and extend the life of the bridge. I have a shot of it and may look it up and post. Jack

Covered bridges seem (to me) to be intimately associated with the USA (apologies if they're common elsewhere, but they're unknown in my neck of the woods). I often wonder why they needed to be covered. --Cheers Brian ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://lyons-ryan.org/southernlight/ --PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
