The church steeple at Mission Santa Cruz is quite picturesque, and because of 
that dynamic range thing, damn near impossible to photograph at night.  I was 
driving into Santa Cruz last night, just a touch after sundown, the sky was 
glowing a pretty shade of blue, not too much darker than the steeple.   From 
where I first saw it, there were also some pretty clouds in the background.  By 
the time the stoplight had changed, I'd found a place to park etc. the sky had 
already darkened past peak.  I didn't have any lenses with me long enough to 
photograph it from where I could put the pretty clouds in the background either.

I did do some bracketed shots, so in theory I could do HDR on them to bring out 
details.
