It's funny, for I've been a champion of the LX for quite some time. It
is a lovely camera. But since I've obtained a really sweet example of
the MX, the LX gets less and less use. For 90% of what I photograph the
LX is too big, too loud, and too heavy. Before using a Leica, and
finding an excellent, like new MX, the LX seemed almost like the perfect
camera, but as I've more experience with cameras that offer a more
"subtle" and quieter approach to capturing a scene, the LX has been
relegated primarily to special situations, those being when a different
finder is called for, or a different viewing screen is preferred to
match to a certain lens, or when photographing in light that's best
metered by the OTF metering of the LX ... that sort of thing. But for a
day-to-day carry-around camera, the LX is no longer the preferred piece
of equipment. Give me a good MX or a Leica any day. The MX is very
close to a Leica in its personality and feel - simple, unobtrusive,
quiet, and with a very direct, connected feel to it.
