Things are still pretty chaotic around here, so I didn't really have time to do much research. The site was about an hour's drive away, so not counting time packing the van, it was about a 7 hour day.

Charles called me up, said that he expected it would be about $700, but would be happy as long as it was under $1,000.

I expect that once they start looking into raw file conversion and such, they'd probably be happy to have me do all the work, I think they just want raw files as backup. As it turns out, I was pleasantly surprised at how close to good to go all the files were.

And, honestly, I'd prefer to be able to shoot for friends for free, but as I'm paying a big chunk of my mortgage with credit cards this month, every little bit of money is desperately needed.

If the person who asked was a good friend, I would have done it for
free. For a casual acquaintance, providing files only, about $300. I
never give anyone RAW files, only tiffs or jpegs. The RAW data is
proprietary, IMO.

I should have thought to ask people before doing the job, but a
friend sent me a note the other day asking if I could do family
portraits at his father's 80th birthday party. I was there for five
hours, charged them $500. They wanted raw files. I figured that
giving them copies of the files saved me the effort of the less
profitable post processing work.

What would you have charged for the job?

And for them that are interested, the 42 that were picked from the
day are at:
