Rick (and Christine & Joe), this shot was a rescue. My subject was
seated with his back to a busy street with the sun streaming in from
behind camera-left. I had to up the exposure enough to get some
frontal definition of his features, but was also trying not to blow
everything else out. Clouds would randomly float by altering the
lighting by reducing it a stop or two but also reducing the contrast,
so many of my other shots don't have the hot spots.

I kept on shooting while hoping for a confluence of good light, a good
pose and expression, and a streetcar to give me a better background
then the uninteresting stores across the street.

When I first pulled up this shot I was going to bypass it entirely as
the light had given it a severe yellow cast. But I tried a b&w
conversion and a little de-contrasting on his face. I can't do
anything about the blown out spot on his glasses because that simply
turns it grey. I could get into some Photoshop wizardry to clone in
better glasses from another shot I suppose.

Thanks for your comments, Rick, and to all who looked and commented, thank you!
