The first image looks, on first glance, to be oversaturated but the
vegetation clearly is not.

An interesting comparison. The first image looks, on first glance, to be
oversaturated but the vegetation clearly is not. So maybe the post
processor did it selectively if it is not realistic. The second image
looks to have either a mild dose of veiling flare (not suprising
considering the conditions) or have suffered some mishap during post. What
you _can_ see of the house colours suggests they are, indeed, vivid.
I think somone needs to go there and inform us as to the reality. I'll
supply the cleft sticks.
