Hi all,
I just wanted to pass along this email I got today that touches on
something Larry told me awhile back about taking photographs of friends
and acquaintances and how they may be the only photographs that their
loved ones have of them. I have to say, I'm pretty deeply moved and
humbled by it.

Walt,
You don't know me from Adam but I do follow you on Facebook and visit
your blog. Because of this you reignited my love of photography and I
felt I needed to pass along this story.
Last Sunday one of our local churches held a Spring Festival for the
kids with an Easter egg hunt and other activities. My daughter had a
friend spending the weekend with us and they decided to go with me to
that event which I was just going to take pictures for and send to our
local Patch website. The Patch is a project which is a network of
blogs all based on the community they serve as way of explanation.
I took a couple of pictures of my daughter and her friend. One of
those pictures wound up being the last picture taken of that young
lady. She passed away late Thursday night the result of a seizure she
had from her epilepsy. She was only 18 years old. I struggled with
whether or not I should let her mother know that I taken the picture
but realizing it was probably the most recent picture and it showed
her daughter laughing and smiling I took a chance and presented it to
her. As heartbreaking as it was, her gratitude was even more
overwhelming. Not having a lot of money they had gone several years
without having any pictures taken like for school or anything. This
photo meant more to her then I could realize cause it showed her
daughter as she looked today and not several years ago.
To be honest I don't even know why I am sending this email other then
to thank you for the inspiration to take my camera with me always and
not be bashful about snapping away. Granted it isn't one of these
DSLR, it is just a Kodak AF digital point and shoot type but it is a
good little camera. I will keep saving my pennies and maybe by the end
of the year I will be able to get one of the entry level DSLR, but
mostly I want to thank you.
