When I look at the two side by side (original vs. square), I can
identify why I like the square crop better. The horizontal OOF branch
(I assume) and the other dark blobs near the bottom of the frame in
the rectangular version do nothing to enhance the main subject and my
eye is continually drawn downwards away from the blossom.

That's just me... maybe ADHD.
