if you find one let me know; i assume this is too short: <http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Metal-Tele-62mm-Screw-in-Lens-Hood-Telephoto-/360447596462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ec59d7ae#ht_500wt_1156>
The Takumar lens hood for 150mm f4.0 serves admirably when using the F 70-210mm on an APS-C camera, and is roughly that long, so I figure I can't go too wrong. Anybody know of a source for such a thing? Almost all of the affordable lens hoods I've found seem to be 4.1mm long designed for a roughly 70mm lens on a 35mm film body. but maybe somebody here knows of one.
i just discovered that a Takumar 28/3.5 rectangular hood (the only piece of pentax gear i inherited from my stepfather) fits my newly acquired FA 28/2.8 well — it compression fits to the outside of the barrel, and i understand it could be narrower, but it does offer protection and some flare control
