If it's like the 400/2.8, the skylight unscrews from the filter holder, which has internal threads. You then can attach any other one you wish to use. (Mine didn't come with a filter, so I bought a B+W, only to find it too thick to fit in the slot. The slim version works fine.) > Did the 112mm Pentax PF SMC filter normally come with the lens? > What is the PF filter? "Protective Front," near as I can tell. I didn't get one. The 400 takes a 150mm PF, for which B&H wanted ~US$650. Needless to say, I still don't have one. BTW, does your 300 have the quick-focus lock, i.e., the extra knurled knob at about 1 p.m. as you look down the barrel? You can use this to "remember" a particular focus; once you do this, you'll feel the focus ring click into place when you reach your preselected setting. Sometimes this is a handy feature. Other than that, I'm not sure there's much need to RTFM. Enjoy! Stephen - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
