In Lightroom 3, When you copied files into a collection, or a set to be exported to flickr, facebook etc. All of the pick & reject flags would disappear, so that a photo that was "picked" in the folder view wouldn't necessarily be picked in the collection view.
It seems that in LR4 the pick and reject flags are following the photo from folder, to collection and so forth.
