Morning all. Yesterday was a nice day after a week of off and on rain, so i decided to take the K-5 and my Sigma 300 f4 APO out for a spin to some marsh areas a few miles north of me and do some birding.
I have not used this lens in a while but first thing i noticed was it seemed that it was not focusing properly. The AF would find what i was aiming at but everything looked like a smear of Vaseline had been put over the front element. So I decided it was a good time to check the af adjustment for this and my FA 100 2.8 macro and my 77Ltd both of which i have suspected to be out since my K10D days. I set up a table at the sunny end of my garage, out of the wind and checked all three lenses. 300 f4 is now at -6 FA 100 is now at +1 77 Ltd is now at +6 It took a while to do all three as i could not tell from the small LCD screen so after each shot went into the house and looked at the shot on the iMac. After i decided when each lens was correct is just wondered around the back yard and shot test subjects and had a look These random test shots look much better now, but i should do some more field test just to be sure. Now my question, do i have to go to the af fine adjustment menu each time i use one of these three lenses or leave the setting at as is and the camera will see that it has an adjusted lens on and take the correction into account. This is the first time i have worked with the fine adjustment feature.
