Hey, ya do what ya have ta do. The 540's behaviour isn't likely to change, so yours has to. :-) And disabling the auto sleep doesn't seem to have any downsides. As I mentioned, I ran two of these suckers for over four straight hours on fully charged Energizers (2450 mAh) and Duracells (2000 mAh). I did a battery change on one after 3.5 hours. If they hadn't been getting flashed at full power every 10-15 seconds they'd have lasted even longer.
