I am certain Auld Tymer Digital PDMLers would have had an over dose of this topic which is on some (20) World Class Photo Forums like Pentax, Photo Camel, DCRP, Shutter Talk, JJMehta etc. 95.70 % of the folks have said 3rd Party batteries are just as good, as long as you buy them from good sources like Amazon, Adorama, Battery Fly com, Energizer etc etc. They cost between $ 6 to 12 shipped vs the original for about $ 45. So the choice is yours. I have been using 3rd Party + Original Pentax Batteries on my K20D and K-5, and have found absolutely no difference. Being an electronic buff, a DIY and a master mechanic, I keep a track of the voltage when fully charged, half charged and discharged of 3rd Party as well as the Originals. All my (9) batteries are going strong even after over (3) years. You are just plain unlucky (Bad Karma) if one has exploded on you!!!???? So can bad Original Pentax batteries - after all Pentax and the Canikons don't manufacture batteries. Bipin - from a far away enchanting land.
