Hi there. The following are "fruits" of my own practice:
1. Nikon D700 and 24-70/2.8 might not focus on the wedding dance floor. The changing light and changing colorful lightning throw camera off-balance. So much so that from about 400 shots only a dozen came out to my personal liking...
2. Nikon D700 and 24-85/3.5-4.5 (or is it 24-70?) won't focus fast enough or focus at all in the regular office corridor light (no ambient light coming from the windows). OTOH 24-70/2.8 would focus amazingly fast, and reliably accurate though.
3. K-5 with FA 43/1.9 won't focus at all at ISO 3200, f/1.9, 1/15 sec kind of light. Manual focus is possible both by the LV or by my special focusing screen. Though the latter is mostly a guesswork - too dark.
4. K-5 at ISO 12800, f/1.9, 1/15 sec would produce remarkably usable photographs with rather pink or better still violet color cast of dark areas...
Above is not offered as comparison of any kind. Merely recollection of my recent shooting experience.
