The shutter/mirror problem described here recently by Christine occurred one
time too many, so I shipped the k-5 off to C.R.I.S. for repair. In addition to
the occasional clicking/non-fire condition on the K-5, the shutter would
occasionally get just a bit loud. All related I assume. Both conditions seemed
exacerbated by heat and fully charged batteries. I think I have more than
30,000 frames on the camera -- I'd have to check my files to be sure -- but in
any case, it's been used hard and often, so I don't mind having to pay for a
bit of maintenance.

Still waiting for C.R.I.S. to return my two 540 flashes, both of which were
acting up after years of hard use. Will be nice to have two units functioning
perfectly. At least that's the result I'm hoping for.

I'm using the K-7 for now, which, aside from much more noise at higher ISO, is
quite similar. I do think the K-5 autofocus is a wee bit better, but the
difference is slight. And there's the k-7 shutter noise. It almost scared me at
first:-). The K-5 is one quiet camera.
