I've been trying to go running without injuring myself. I had

The idea worked too well.

The only camera I carry when running is my cellphone! I'm
surprised you didn't find the SLR a bit awkward and heavy.

We may have different definitions of "running". I ended up only
covering about 2.5 miles in over an hour. Even at my best, I barely
beat a 12 minute mile (8 minute click). But I specifically chose the
K-x and DA40 rather than the K-5 and 16-50, though I was wishing for
faster glass and wishing that the 31 weren't so large. I barely
noticed it's weight in my fannypack, though even without the camera
the fannypack flopped around a lot more than I like, I need to see if
one of my others works better. I ended up just carrying the K-x in
my hands.

Definitely not "running".

You should be able to *walk* 2.5 miles in half an hour.
