If you were anywhere close to this beastie I admire your steady hand.
These lizards seem like living dinosaurs and could make you believe in
fire breathing dragons. Thanks to pandering to my interest with a nice
photo. I only wish there was a closer view of those dead & deadly eyes.

A Lace Monitor at Healesville Sanctuary, east of Melbourne:

These guys can grow to about 2 metres long and, while not normally
aggressive, they can be disconcerting if they take a fancy to the
steak and sausages on your picnic table.
