I like the first one a lot more, actually. It carries the mood of
waiting a bit better - in the second one they could have just sat down
for a break...
Also, the first is less cluttered - Bruce's suggestion of cropping a bit
might make it even stronger... I might crop so the boys are not so
centered but maybe not
