Interesting..
I darkened the black area a bit to make sure it was totally featureless and black , actually. I couldnt see any detail in it at all, although when I went to use the magic wand in elements apparently the program did as it selected two sections of the black mass.
I still can't see anything but black there in the photo as it is now.
But then, I don't have the brightness of my monitor set at 100 - because I can't look at it at all if I do and when the power was getting
browned out last week it flickered.  I upped it to 100 and think i see
what you mean.

If you can see that, I guess I should put it back in elements :-)
