From: Larry Colen

Among my vast enablement of this weekend, Darren gave me two Profoto
Pro-40 studio strobes. The modeling light on one of them is not
working. Not only are both the modeling and flash bulbs covered by
some sort of glass cover that it isn't obvious how to remove it, I'm
not having any luck at all finding any sort of documentation on the
strobes. About the closest I've come to a relevant link was some
years old post that the bulbs are no longer available. profoto
doesn't even seem to still have a website.

By any chance does anyone on the PDML know anything about these
strobes? Or at least have better google-fu than I do for finding
info?

Maybe - http://www.profoto.com/

Larry, best I can figure those are older than my Bowens 400B & White Lightning 10K monolights. Profoto doesn't even show them under "Discontinued Products".

If you Google Profoto and go to their website, then choose Profoto Global, look under accessories & they have modeling lamps & flash tubes.

They didn't have images for all of the modeling lamps, but they had descriptions & product numbers, i.e. Modeling lamp 300W/120V GY6.35 is Product number: 102071. The product number may be imprinted on the base for your bulb. Or the data for the bulb may be there.

Google GY6.35 lamp & you can see what those lamps look like. GY6.35 is apparently the base style of the lamps.

I think the modeling lamps will have to be handled like halogen headlight bulbs.

Be real careful with the flash tubes. If you break one of those, I think you're going to be shit out of luck.
