I presume you are referring to NBC's tape delay?  That's only for the
evening prime-time show, as far as I know.  But the live coverage for
many of the events is at hours which are not PDT-friendly.  In any
case, I can't watch everything in real time - that's why I have TiVos.
The broadcasts may be live, but there are multiple channels of coverage.
Even ignoring some of the streams, there are times when I'm recording
three events at once.

I do avoid threads with the words "Olympics" in them until I'm caught
up for the day (which, often, isn't until midnight, if then). But
even though we are both working from home there are times when either
my wife or I can't watch television, and we seem to be averaging more
than 20 hours of recorded coverage a day.  Much of it will be skipped
over (I'm not a big fan of beach volleyball, or field hockey).
