I have an older cell phone ( Nokia 2008)but it will do text messaging,
is this ok,??
it would work for 2-factor authentication
the problem i have with using text messaging is that i pay 20 cents for every
message (extortion by AT&T); i have had Google phone me instead, but i now use
the Google Authenticator app (Google's version available for smartphones, other
versions available for desktop OSs); i find this easier, and it can be used
without giving Google your mobile phone number
Igor covers the real depth of the risks well — this is not so much about Apple
& Amazon (both of which have altered their procedures already) or Gmail, but
about how the links between your accounts may be used to compromise your security
