The Perseid peak is officially around 12z on Aug 12 (7 am Sunday, CDT)
meaning that the very best time in Nebraska should be the midnight to
dawn period on early Sun. Morning. Our forecast is for it to be clear
on SunDAY. But a 20% chance of showers on Sat. Night ( however,
chances have dropped 10% in the last 24 hrs) so I'm hopeful that we
will be clear (or clear enough) by midnight. With my 28mm f1.8 and an
intervalometer and the K-5, I'm definitely the best-equipped that I
have ever been to capture meteors, so I'm pumped.

Keep in mind that the Perseids do not have a sharp peak and so, with
the favorable moon, I would recommend getting out any clear night you
can between now and Tuesday.
