I don't need to think about anything. You're in a public space you may get your 
picture taken. I really don't see why that's a problem. 

I also don't understand why a distance shot or passerby shot is okay (presuming 
they can be identified) but something closer isn't. It's not like I am sucking 
the soul out of them. 

People who hug in public places obviously don't mind strangers seeing what 
they're doing; neither should they mind being photographed.

Regardless of whether I take their photo, they're likely on a security video 
anyway...

WelL I wouldn't want a stranger to push a camera in my face, so...

I'm not talking about distance shots, or people just passing by.

And I'd never publish a photo of people embracing where you can see 
their faces (unless, of course, I knew them ) especially not in New York
