Inserting a fresh card in the Kx, I was greeted with
"No card in camera"
Curses, my first card failure in nearly a decade.
New card in and
"No card in camera"
Hmmm.
Another.
"No card in camera"
Ah.

Looked at the card contacts - all bright and shiny.  Looked in the
card slot with one of those LED torches that dazzle you if you point
them just right.  Nothing obvious wrong there.

In desperation I put the original card in, pushed it right down with
my fingernail and held it there as I switched on.

Bingo!

In another day or so I'll have to change it for an empty one - I'm
keeping all extremities crossed.
