That was hopefully my biggest brain flatulence of the day.
Sorry, Tom!

I'm sure you will enjoy your NEX-7. I saw output comparing the Canon
(S95, if memory serves), the Pentax Q, and the NEX-5 and their is no
question that the NEX had the best IQ and preservation of detail in
the bunch. I just don't think it's really a fair comparion, though.
For starters, it is now more than 3x the price of the Q. "Let's
compare a Ford Focus with an Infinity G35 Coupe!"

Secondly, I doubt that I could fit the NEX with a normal lens in the
pocket of my cargo pockets very easily or comfortably, as I do the (37
grams) Q. The NEX-7 body alone is approx. 350 grams) It is just a
silly comparison, but in no way is that the same as saying it is a
silly camera.

I did like this quote from a dpreview forum post from a guy who
compared the Canon S95, the NEX-5 and the Pentax Q:
After some comparison photos, in which the Q performed impressively,
given it's specs he finishes with this:

"And finally; faces I use when I take photos: Canon S90 = hope I don't
drop it cringe, Sony NEX5 = angry cross face when using menu, Q = big
silly smile.

I think that about sums up why I (only recently) decided to get a
Pentax Q and intend to do a lot of shooting with it (although it's not
like I'm going to relegate the K-5 to the closet). Now that the Q and
8.5 is around $399 I think you'd better get one. Earlier, on
seriouscompacts.com I pointed people to a deal at Crutchfields, where
that kit was $399 AND included the Pentax leather case (a reg. $99
accessory). Now Crutchfields shows no Qs available and "Discontinued"
(presumably by Crutchfields not Pentax.) In any event, the time to
pull the trigger on the Q is probably now, unless you didn't mind the
Qs original price, in which case you might want to wait until
Photokina to see if a New Q or Super Q is announced.
