in professional photography the thing that matters is the end result, not how you got it. Personally I don't really care if the news photo I'm looking at is a frame grab from a video or an HCB decisive moment from the point of view of the picture itself, as long as it's honest.
I think the point of contention here is whether 30FPS video will make it easier or more difficult to achieve that honest end result.
I fall into the camp of those who would find it more difficult. The process interferes with producing the product.
The difficulty of finding keepers increases exponentially with the number of images to be sorted through. I find that with too many images my attention span decreases to the point it becomes impossible to give anything after the first 50 or so the necessary critical evaluation.
