John,

I used the eyedropper on the undersides of the clouds (made the greens look 
weird), on my wife's white shirt (made the sky =and= the greens look weird), 
and finally just played with the sliders.

Haze was building as the day went on, which is why the distant hills look 
washed out.

The dark grey underside of the clouds in the upper right might provide 
an adequate substitute for a grey card in this instance.

Seems like bright sunlight makes the distant points look a little washed 
out, but I don't think that's really a white balance issue.
