i can't make a suggestion from experience, but i'm listening to the answers
subsisting as i do on virtual hand-outs from thrift stores and craigslist, i'm
waiting for a ball-head with an Arca-swiss style plate to fall into my lap; in
part because those plates seem so widely supported on quality heads, but also
because i happen to have one RRS plate from a grab bag that fits my K200d
perfectly, and the slimness and lightness of it impress me more than the Bogen
plates (rectangular & hex) i've used — i've bought and then sold heavy- and
light-duty Bogen equipment but no ball-heads; meantime i have a couple of
tripods with pan/tilt heads, including an old Tilt-all with no QR, that serve
me alright
