I really don't know how old this building is. There were several waves of farm 
abandonment and consolidation in the Dales, from the 1850s onwards. It is along 
a former carriage road that is just off the crest of the ridge; a mile or so 
farther along the path is an abandoned coaching inn that appears to be about 
the same age.  So, if they weren't abandoned before the advent of the 
"motorcar", it was shortly after.
