I think the suit is in probably in a museum somewhere, and often there
are contemporary descriptions of the colors. It's pretty easy to find
the correct colors for old uniforms, and you can find reproductions of
all those old advertising signs at Cracker Barrel.
The *original* B&W photos remain intact at the Smithsonian, National
Archives, Library of Congress, Time, Life, Look archives, etc. - so I
don't see that it's a big deal.
They're just kitsch, nothing more.

I think something similar was shown here some time ago. In fact some of
these look familiar. Wasn't an "artist" colourizing well-known b&w
photos and trying to pass it off as her own art?
Anyway, I think it's wrong to do this and your description, Mark, is
appropriate.
Pat Metheny's thoughts on Kenny G's debacle were pointed out to me
