I must be brutally honest here: that is a rather static and undynamic (if that's a word) photo.
And to me that's always a difficulty shooting jazz. The guy can be blowing the most amazing Coltranesque solo and be standing stock-still staring into space (as this guy seems to be doing). Sometimes they will get into it physically but that can be hard to capture as well as that can be sporadic and unpredictable. Some are physically gesturing all the time, but my guess is that this player isn't one of them. ;-) So, whatever the reason, I have to say that this is unfortunately a fairly uninspiring photo of a musician who was likely playing amazing music - but not showing the outward indicators of it.
