Many people have asked us how we could live out of town and doesn't
that scare us. My answer has always been that I'm not really scared of
nature or even of wild animals. What I fear more is potentially the
most dangerous animal on the planet, man. The fact that this fire was
started by the deliberate act of an 18 year old nincompoop, bears that
out.

In northern Saskatchewan it used to be quite common for young men to go out in the bush and pile a bunch of twigs into a pile, stick a candle in, light it and cover the whole thing with a cardboard box.
This gave them time to get safely away before the forest fire started.
They would then get jobs on the firefighting crews, which apparently paid very well.
