I've had a few prints made -- mostly small ones and a very few 8X10's, with mixed results.

B&W prints seem to be the most troublesome by far as they never seem to come out right when I try to use a cooler tone for the silver gelatine/selenium look. They always seem to have a much greener tint than I'm going for. I think my next investment will probably be a decent printer and paper. It's been a while since I've had any prints made -- and I don't really recall having any made since I figured out I was being a bit garish with my saturation.

At the moment, I'm almost in a state of fear with regard to posting any new images, as I don't really know how well I've got my monitor calibrated. I figure, as long as I stay in my little photographic Hobbit shire, I'm insulated from reality.

Yeah. If I found I was selling thousands of images I'd be very tempted

Have you printed any of your stuff, Walt? I think that if you only
ever see your shots on-screen and get feedback only from there, you
really need to get the perspective that prints provide. Just creating
a Blurb book forced me to see that I'd gone way too saturated in
flower colours. Some just came out as bright ink blots. :-)

I can very much sympathize with all but the "selling thousands of images"
part. I still struggle with my inclination to saturate and darken shadows
with a heavy hand.

I attribute it to my old monitor, or something.
