Some time ago, Ann posted some pics of Mono Lake. Tangentially-related article in Nature this week. I find it fascinating.
Recall the story a while back of scientists who thought they discovered life that lived on arsenic instead of phosphate. Bad science. But the real story is even more interesting. Turns out these critters actually have an incredible distaste for arsenic, and are super-heroes at finding even the smallest amounts of phosphate.
