A friend of mine found this a few inches below the ground's surface by a tree in his yard:

It's somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball and weighs about 1.5 - 2 lbs (maybe a little more) and gives the impression of being metallic, but doesn't appear to have much iron in it, as a magnet doesn't stick to it.

Someone else thought it might be a geode, but didn't know for sure -- the heft made him think it probably isn't. So, I figured I'd ask all the smarties in PDML if they had any thoughts.
