McCain got the nomination in 2008, but Romney kept his conservative
positioning to get nominated in 2012 and get money and backing.
3. His positions and retoric were perfect for the right wing, but by the
national campaign they looked so extreme. Way too far from the mainstream US.
The ultra conservative 'Tea Party' which took congressional seats as
Republicans
in the last election are being repudiated and replaced by Democrats.
This is the team that is responsible for our congressional gridlock.
They aren't all gone, but have taken a sound thrashing, as should be.
This is my personal opinion.
I give it to share my perspective with our overseas readers (and some
Canadians too).
