John,
I don't know about holding the remote, but the K-7,K-5 battery grip
has a spot for an extra sd card.
It doesn't function electrically, just a carrier.spot. I prefer a
velcro pocket on the neck strap for SD cards.
Regards, Bob S.

That's all the K10D/K20D battery grips have - a little slot for a spare card.

If you want to use the spare card, you have to remove it from the slot & put it into the camera's SD slot. I've only gone off once without having put the card back in the camera after downloading images. I was able to use the spare card from the grip until I got back home.

I've got a little fold up pouch from ThinkTank that holds 10 SD cards; has a loop strap that hooks onto my belt so that it won't get lost if it slips out of my pocket. It's supposed to have a pocket for business cards, but I keep a thumb-drive sized USB SDHC card reader in it instead.

I've left it behind at the house more than once, but so far, I haven't put it down and walked away from it if I remembered to take it with me in the first place.
