I haven't seen that book, but I spent two months in Japan while I was
in the corps, and I learned a bit about the Japanese bath and its
rules.  The first odd thing for an American, of course, is that one
must be perfectly clean BEFORE entering the bath.  I did learn to
quite enjoy those hot soaks!
