Thanks for posting, David. As many here may remember, I like to talk
about my times in NZ back in the mid 70's :-) My first trip to Mt.
John was a wonderful experience that I will never forget.
We were able to stay the night and view through their fairly new 40"
scope that was only slightly hampered by a nearly full moon. After
several hours I went out to get a smoke. As I walked down the hill a
short distance, Lake Tekapo below became almost fully visible, but my
mind was still on the heavens above. The southern milky way was fully
overhead and as my gaze swept toward the horizon I became disoriented,
as the milky way kept going !! I then realized that I was seeing the
sky perfectly mirrored in an utterly glass clear lake. I was
mesmerized by the stunning view, and the memories are still vivid.
Your pictures truly bring justice to a spectacular place. Thanks again!

Walt
