After calibrating my new IPS monitor, with the help of Bruce (no, that is not a conflict of interest!) there is more distinction. Surprisingly the monitor was not too far off just out of the box, but it was enough to be visible.
I look forward to seeing the actual prints... Well, I better get the thing calibrated soon then :-) Then I might post a few adjusted photos myself. But my first cut had more separation; the version you saw had been tweaked to push the whites right up close to 100% which flattened the tone curve near the top. I backed that off and restored the original version once again, so have a look at it now. It's subtle, but the outline of her arm is visible. As I said to Jack, you need you monitor to be well calibrated as I push the tones at both ends of the scale, without blowing them out. And here's the tonally less extreme colour version ... http://www.flickr.com/bruce_m_walker/8245838556/lightbox/ Thanks! -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
