I second what Bruce wrote. http://www.amazon.com/CN-160-Dimmable-Digital-Camcorder-Panasonic/dp/B004VC8M3K/ I bought one about half a year ago, and used it for video and still photos of my little daughter. The hot-shoe mount could have been done a bit better, but it is quite acceptable. I am happy with this light.
It takes AA batteries (IIRC, 6 of them), or a li-ion batteries. If I am not mixing up, I bought this battery: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001MW91J6/ and this charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045TKC7S/ (check carefully, - that I didn't mix up, as I was considering a few different ones). I've had the Neewer CN-160 one for a couple of years now and it's been great. Seen a lot of use here for video and stills.
