I did miss the focus. It is also taken at 3200 ISO, which doesn't help. Still there is something I like about the image.
As to the light, this was taken indoors, at night, with artificial lighting. I just am not able to get outside during the daylight hours. If the weather is decent this weekend, I may take the flowers and the tripod outside to see what I can do under better conditions.
