In the old days, Canadian balsam was used. I did this once on an old (I
think it was a Speed Graphic) lens about 40 years ago.The elements should be
marked so that they will be cemented back exactly as they were. One
important thing is to insure there are no air bubbles in the cement and that
none are introduced as the elements are cemented together. I set the concave
portion down like a shallow dish, filled the dish with hot (to flow easy)
Canadian balsam from the center (inspected for bubbles with another lens
used as a magnifier). I then lowered the convex portion slowly straight down
and centered. I just let the excess flow out (and make a mess). I cleaned
this up after everything was set and hard. Not a bad job for a 15 year old.

Regards,
Bob...

"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity,
and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us
from the former, for the sake of the latter.
The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls
for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude,
and perseverance. Let us remember that 'if we
suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty,
we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.'
It is a very serious consideration that millions yet
unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event."
