Mom sent me to the liquor store for a hostess gift for tomorrow and
something to cook with. In the line for the very very busy checkout,
the fellow behind me remarked about my camera (I've got an ancient
400mm and a 2x on it right now, so it's even more conspicuous than
usual). He mentioned that he has an SLR but doesn't know what to do
with it, and wasn't able to find instructions on the web.
His son had it for school and left it behind when he moved out. And
it's a Pentax. And it's from circa 1985. So I think we all know which
model it most likely is (though he didn't remember a model number).
Outside, I spent about ten minutes trying to pack the basics into a
compact enough lesson that he'll be able to remember most of fit ...
or at least enough of the terms and concepts to have better luck the
next time he asks Google to find him thee rest of the clues.
Damn. I forgot to tell him about this mailing list. Argh!
