It turns out that I don't have a lens reversal ring after all.  The best I 
could do for crazy macro was basically a bunch of extension tubes, plus my 
vivitar macro 2x teleconverter, and nuking the subject with a big strobe:

I was able to get a ruler shot down to about 3mm, but it isn't terribly sharp:

I took the setup into my front yard to photograph some lichen that have been 
catching my interest for the past few days:

I then noticed a slug, but didn't get any decent crazy macros of it.

I did get some decent macros, some with the tamron 90, some with the tamron 90 
on the vivitar macro 2x teleconverter.
