When an LCD panel gets cracked, it generally shows black areas around the
crack, even when off. This crack looks to me like it may be only in the top
cover. However, the shock that caused the crack might have loosened the
connections to the LCD. One also has to wonder if there might be some more
subtle problem as a result of the shock (like the lens mount might not be
straight anymore). If there is time, at the very least have them send you a
picture of the camera turned on so you can verify that at least some of the
LCD segments work.
In any case, it might be worthwhile verifying with the seller that you can
return the camera for a full refund if there are any subtle hidden problems
(or perhaps, if for any reason you don't like it?). If they are reputable
and will give you that guarantee, then it could be a bargain.
