I have no other 85mm to compare it to, but I can tell you that
I like it a _lot_. It's my favourite lens.
I'll often reach for a 50mm (or the 35-105/3.5) for full-body
shots, but strongly prefer the 85/2 for faces or head+shoulder
portraits. Sometimes I'll back up a little and shoot two or
three people's faces together.
